ACT TEST PREP PROGRAM AT ICJA

The House is excited to offer our annual ACT Prep program for the students of Ida Crown Jewish Academy. This proven course will prepare students to succeed on the ACT exam.

Students will learn the fundamental skills and strategies necessary for performing their very best on this exam. They will build a new level of comfort with the material on the test, while increasing their general confidence for reaching their goal scores.

The House’s ACT program has been tremendously successful for hundreds of students throughout Chicagoland, including many from Ida Crown. 

Structure

The House’s course will consist of 2.5 hour classes offered on Sundays for eight weeks in ICJA’s building. Instruction will be divided into two 75 minute sessions, with each session covering either the Math and Science Reasoning sections or the English, Reading and Writing sections of the exam.

Instructors & Materials

A seasoned House ACT prep instructor will lead each student group through the entire program. The instructor will represent the most elite universities, the top 2% of college entrance exam scorers, and have extensive experience teaching ACT exam skills and strategies.

The instructor will utilize The House’s ACT Course Books (provided to each student), actual retired ACT test booklets and an extensive library of support material to deliver a sophisticated, efficient, and integrated ACT preparation experience.

Curriculum

The House has optimized a rigorous and effective eight week curriculum for ACT preparation. The course focuses on building familiarity with the ACT exam’s architecture and style and teaches the specific skills necessary for succeeding on it. The program targets only material that appears on the exam, allowing students to focus on necessary skills and avoid extraneous studying. Students are then led into short quizzes and passages to solidify these skills, followed by extensive, time-managed practice tests. Personalized strategies for time management, the answer selection process, avoiding traps and more are integrated into the program.

Monitoring

The House utilizes actual retired ACT exams for our diagnostic exams. Utilizing a proprietary system, an in-depth, six-page analysis report is generated for each student. This report breaks down each students performance on every aspect of the ACT exam. The data is invaluable in providing a personalized experience for all of our students.

The House also provides parents updates after each class.

ACT Course Calendar

Registration for this class is available through our website here. The registration deadline is January 14^th. Sunday classes are from 9:30am-12pm.

Private Tutoring Alternative

The House also offers private in-home and in-lounge tutoring as a more personalized ACT test prep alternative.
