FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

The SAT and ACT, while similar, have some key differences: the SAT has two math sections vs. the ACT’s one, and the ACT adds a science section. The two tests also emphasize slightly different skillsets. The best way to see which one is best for you is to come and take each one for a trail run by signing up for a diagnostic exam. Then, you can review your detailed score report and discuss your next steps with our test prep experts.

Test optional doesn’t mean test neutral. My rule of thumb is that, unless the score is much less robust than the rest of your application packet, it’s best to submit an exam. Schools still take them into consideration, and it might nudge you ahead of an otherwise comparable applicant.

Practice tests let you sharpen your skills, gauge your progress, and build up your testing endurance. They also provide valuable data to direct and customize your course of study.

Our sprint classes are taught by the same elite team of tutors who work with students one-on-one and teach small group courses. In four action-packed hours, they will introduce you to the content and strategy necessary to take on each section of the exam. By taking a sprint course you can guarantee that you will not be going into test day blindly.

Absolutely. Making a loose plan for how to move through each section can help, provided you don’t get too focused on the clock. For example, you can plan to spend roughly nine minutes on each reading passage, but it’s a bad idea to allow exactly one minute for each question. Skipping difficult or confusing questions—and returning to them after you’ve completed all the more straightforward questions—can also sustain a sense of momentum and ensure that you’re picking up as many points as possible.

"We loved Liam's whole hipster vibe! He was great with John. John forgot his math workbook at school, but Liam was able to work around it and give John ways to remind himself to bring everything home each day, solving an ongoing problem.."
